Carterton

Carterton is close to the Tararua ranges. Originally built to house workers building the road between Masterton and Greytown, its history is evident in its handsome main street buildings which now house a booming arts and crafts community.

A short 10 minutes drive is Greytown - NZ’s first planned inland town, later know for its orchards and market gardens, now home to beautifully restored houses and storefronts, chic cafes, boutiques, galleries and antique shops; a popular weekend escape for Wellingtonians.
