Filming In Wellington NZ
Climate
Nothing beats Wellington on a good day. Virtually pollution free, it makes for brilliant light and colours. In fact, Wellington gets more sunshine than Auckland, Melbourne and London and less rain than Auckland and Sydney.
Apart from the temperature differences you’d expect, there aren’t too many seasonal variations in our weather. So any time of the year is a good time to make us your film destination.
Or if you’d rather blue-screen it, there’s always our sensational new sound stage.
Seasons
Our seasons are the reverse of the northern hemisphere as follows:
Spring: September – November
Summer: December – February
Autumn: March – May
Winter: June - August
You will find in Wellington the seasons tend to blend into one another. It is extremely rare for Wellington to experience snow and in winter there are many days with blue sky and sunshine.

More than 2064 hours per year.
NZ’s sunniest main centre in 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2002
